Here at First Steps Nursery we are lucky enough to have a teacher based within the nursery for 52 weeks of the year!
Now that the academic year has started and all the children are back, Alex has begun her teacher-led activities with the pre-school children in Wise Owls.
This week we have mainly been focusing on getting to know each other and the routine. Every morning Alex does a quick and fun phonics activity in small groups, this week we have been practicing using our listening ears and tuning in to what we can hear around us. In the afternoons Alex does a planned activity with small groups of children at a time. This week it has included our first PE lesson, where we have been learning some new games and moving along the benches in different ways. We have been talking about our classroom rules, our weekend news and been singing some maths songs using our numbered wooden spoons!
The teacher-led activities carried out by Alex have a learning focus in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, but are always fun and engaging for the children!
If you would like to know what the pre-schoolers are working on this term, or would like to know anything else about the types of activities Alex will be teaching, please come and find her in the nursery for a chat.
